Advice to Listeners from a Broadcaster

I just want to clear the air on something that has been bugging me. As a broadcaster, I never, ever, ever.....ever put down a player or team...ever! I report facts, and sometimes facts can be misconstrued. Maybe something happens in a game that is official, though wrong, it still is official. If it is a rare occurrence, a broadcaster feels its his job to report such an event.

In doing that reporting, I am stating that something happened in a game (whether you believe it to be correct, or not), it still happened and I report it.

If a player strikes out three times, the next time she comes to bat, I say she is 0-3 and has struck out three times. That's the facts. If a baseball pitcher was called for 7 balks in a game, I would report that, it's uncommon. Maybe, they were not actually balks, they were called, they are in the scorebook as balks. It happened, and it's reported. Just had to get that off my chest.
