In 5 hours I will be waking up to set flight for the first time, destination: California. Tupac's "California Love" plays over and over in my head.
I double-dipped in coverage today, taking in the Class 4A Sectional Semifinal in Softball between Moline and Normal West. The game was held at Galesburg, even though it is the Belleville Sectional. Despite 3 inches of rain in Galesburg, the field was good. Moline upset Normal West, giving the Wildcats their first (and only) loss of the 2010 season, ending their run.
I will do my travel blog later this weekend, some point in my trip to California. I will also keep a blog of my travels in "Cali".
After the softball sectional, I drove to East Peoria, and watched a majority of the Rock Island/Streator baseball sectional. Galesburg beat Metamora earlier in the night, 13-6. I talked with Streaks coach Arnie Gonzalez for a bit during the Rocky/Streator game. Took some video from that game as well, including a 2-out, 3-run home run in the bottom of the 7th by Rock Island that pulled them within a run. Final score, 8-7, with Streator hanging on for the win.
That's all for now, going to try and get 4.5 to 5 hours of sleep. For more updates, follow my Twitter feed, at www.twitter.com/ihssn.
