IHSA Class 4A State Finals (@ Eastside Centre)
A storm blew into East Peoria early this afternoon, roughly 2:00 the premises went under a rain delay. A swift wind blew in, and the respective teams (Moline & Elk Grove) were sent to the buses. The rains started shortly after. A group of about 25 tournament workers and IHSA officials, and media members gathered in the upstairs press box for a while. Many trickled out as the rains continued to fall. All teams left the area, and at 5:00 an announcement was made that the Class 4A third place would be declared a tie between Elk Grove and Moline.
At this time, a tentative start time is set for 6:45 for the Class 4A state championship game between (Palatine) Fremd and (Orland Park) Sandburg. Grounds crew at the Eastside Centre is checking over the main diamond, as the rains look to be diminishing shortly.
